Nearly 300 railway signal workers with Canadian Pacific are off the job after their 72 hour strike notice expired yesterday morning without a deal. According to the union, the employees install and repair railway signals and communication systems across the network from Montreal through Vancouver. The railway said it's implemented contingency plans to maintain operations across the country. Food Banks Canada said Canada's employment insurance no longer serves the broader and shifting workforce as more people take up gig work and part-time jobs.
