Two children aged 12 and 13 in hospital with minor injuries after they were struck by a car in West Montreal yesterday morning. Police were called just before 8 to Westminster and Ainslie. The English Montreal School Board is calling on parents to sign a petition to install crossing guards at high schools. Four separate snowmobile incidents turned deadly Saturday in the province. Police said the first fatal crash happened during the noon hour in Quebec's Bas-Saint-Laurent region. A 57-year-old man died when his snowmobile struck a pickup truck at an intersection. A 47-year-old woman died when she lost control of her snowmobile on a marked trail and crashed into a tree south of Montreal. At about 6.30 that evening, 400 kilometers north of Quebec City, three men apparently fell through the ice. Two survived. A 49-year-old's body was recovered on Sunday. And at about 9.30 in the evening Saturday, southeast of Montreal, a 47-year-old died of his injuries when his snowmobile left the road and landed in a ditch. People are celebrating the Lunar New Year with prayers, fireworks, and St. festivals for the year of the horse, crowds gathering at temples and events across Asia and beyond. And it's Pancake Tuesday today, signifying the start of Lent, a 40-day period of abstinence leading up to Easter. Like 1067 Sports, Canada has 11 medals as day 11 dawns at the Olympics. Yesterday, Megan Oldham of Perry Sound claimed the country's second gold. She won women's freestyle ski big air. 24-year-old already had a bronze. Short track speed skater Courtney Serreau of Moncton claimed silver in the women's 1,000 meter race. Canada's medal tally is two gold, 4 silver, and five bronze. But we're getting another one in women's hockey. We beat Switzerland 2-1 and we'll play the U.S. for gold on Thursday. On the men's side, Canada undefeated. They're into the quarterfinals tomorrow.
