Canadians in Puerto Vallarta say the city felt quiet after cartel violence set vehicles on fire and filled the sky with smoke. Tourists describe seeing armed police, burnt out vehicles and empty streets as officials ordered people to stay inside. Air Canada and Porter have added their names to the list of airlines resuming flights. WestJet and Air Transat made similar announcements. Violence erupted after a notorious cartel leader was killed. Now keep in mind, flights to the U.S. Northeast are canceled after a massive snowstorm. Up to 60 centimeters of snow fell on parts of New York, New Jersey and Boston. The same system walloped Atlantic Canadians. Eastern Newfoundland was hammered by back-to-back storms. St. John's had 110 centimeters. A massive fire has destroyed the former St. Paul Church in Montreal's southwest borough early yesterday morning. close to 100 firefighters on scene to the five-alarm blaze.
