Three people taken into custody accused of making fake IDs and credit cards in Montreal. Police say thousands of identities were stolen to create the fake documents. Authorities have sent letters to almost 2,000 people alerting them to the theft. A 42-year-old and 34-year-old were arrested. Police later confirmed a Montreal man was also apprehended. The Prime Minister was in Montreal yesterday where he unveiled his long-awaited defense industrial strategy. The $6.6 billion plan is expected to support Canada's domestic military production. The Buy Canadian initiative will prioritize the construction of military equipment at home, increase the share of defense contracts awarded to Canadian firms, and create up to 125,000 jobs over the next 10 years. And Canadian Muslims are preparing to mark the start of Ramadan today. And for the first time in two decades, Canada's approximately 1.8 million Muslims mark the full month of Ramadan in winter. It follows the lunar calendar and shifts every year. Light 1067 Sports Canada struck gold once again as day 11 of the Olympics is over and day 12 gets underway. Speed skaters Ivani Blondin and Isabelle Weidman, along with Quebec's Valerie Maltel, won gold in the women's team pursuit. marking the first time since 2010, a country has earned the top spot at back-to-back Olympics. Canada's men's curling team secured a playoff spot after defeating Great Britain. Canada will play Italy today. Also on tap today, Courtney Cerro chases another short track speed skating medal. Canada's men's hockey team returns to action in the quarterfinals to face Czechia in a rematch at their tournament opener. Canada's men are 3-0 so far. Mark Morris aims for a fourth Olympic medal when he competes in men's snowboard slopestyle. And in the delayed women's snowboard slopestyle final, Laurie Blouin will look to return to the podium after a fourth place finish in 2022. The event was pushed back because of snow.
